What is Self-Directed Services?
Self-directed services are designed for Members who want to remain in charge of their personal care services and caregivers, rather than delegate the control to an agency. Under the self-directed care model, the Member has the primary responsibility and authority to hire, train, schedule, supervise, and even dismiss their caregivers. Caregivers can be qualified and trained family members, friends, or neighbors whom The Member has chosen to provide their care. The person receiving the care, not an agency, remains in charge of their care.
The Member directs their own care and services with guidance and support from a Fiscal Service provider (Consumer Direct) which provides administrative supportive services.
